Excellent video!
-
I quit watching because of the horribel noise behind the talk... A shame, 'cause it was really interesting

Sorry the YouTube doesn't allow us to post the website.
But when you do a search in Google, make sure you type velo-city 2012 --with the hyphen.

stop being PC diversity whiners & L7 WHEEEENIEEEEESSSS. Every fucking ad' doesn't have to have a black man, a slightly latin looking asian lady & a baby white girl to represent a community. Some nerdy parts to this, but it's better then a million other City of Vancouver videos.

@kktwin88 I'm no twinkie, but I ride to, from and within Toronto in spandex year-round. I remember when I used to wear street clothes to ride: for significant distances real bike gear is so much better. I also like the fact that I'm still identifiable as a cyclist in stores and cafes even without my bike under me ... it all goes towards making a bike culture.

@jeerock the comments by you and others concerning the ethnicity of the cyclists and others in this video is correct. Perhaps now that spring has sprung another video using the same text can be produced using a multi-ethnic cast.

@jettgrrl8 In the 1989 I biked in Vancouver. Quite a change!

@kktwin88 : The point of the video is to encourage bicyclists to go to the conference. Actually very few spandex clad cyclists are in the video. Given your use of twinkies and spandex I think you have to adjust your thinking about bicycle culture. Bike shorts are much more comfortable for rides longer than 8 km/5 mi than jeans.

This video is a great promotion for bicycling. Evero-oy traffic engineer in the USA can see the actual results of making a city more bicycling friendly. I'm going to Velo-City 2012 by train from here on the South Coast of Canada/North Coast of the USA, the Great Lakes.
Is Velo-City 2012 going to arrange for a special VIARail fare and a special Amtrak fare, including special prices on sleeper accommodations? I hope so! Also special Greyhound prices. Not simply the 20% discounted fares.
This video was shot in a very time constricted period late February, early March. Snow had also fallen during the shooting time reducing cycling. We lacked flexibility in order for the video to be ready for Velo-city 2011 in Seville. The video reflects who were on the street during the shooting time. Unfortunately, the diversity of Vancouver’s population was not there at that time. We wished it were otherwise.
