Mine did that a little while back. It turned out to be a vacuum leak at the pcv valve. Did you have I checked for vacuum leaks?

Its a Ford.

I had the same thing going on with mine, it would flutter and stall when I would stop I ran fuel injector cleaner through it and that seemed to help

do you have the vct motor in this car???
fmartinez2580 1 year ago
@fmartinez2580 yes the motor is vct, almost all fords from the very end of the 97 gen's and up are vct. the idle problem was a mixture of an air leak, and also i found out that i had a loose connection so the little extra electrical drain from the brake lights was sparsing the fuel pump which shot my fuel filter so the low fuel pressure caused the rpm drop. Fixed the air leak the connection and a new fuel filter and problem was solved. Needs a new fuel filter every few months though...XD idk y

@fmartinez2580 also, the idle up when gear is engaged is due to the vct, picks up rms to reduce lag with the automatic gear change. which leads to less wear over the gears life

well i solved my problem. air leak in the vaccum hose that runs from the back of the intake manifold to the egr.
