  • @Thespian01 There is a torrent of a "discography" of Orff's works floating around on the internet that this is a part of. I believe the torrent is simply titled "Carl Orff".

  • @Klangtraeume

  • @DiomedesDioscuro

The text ist the ending of Act III of the german traduction of Sophocles's "Antigonae" by the german poet Friedrich Hölderlin in the year 1804.

The text sung follows in the next posts.

  • @eastsunrise Yes actually I found one with Martha Modl

  • @Thespian01 There is a classic DG set originally recorded in 1961 which may be difficult to obtain. It starred the magnificent Inge Borkh, who famously championed this work with the NY Philharmonic in 1966. It is conducted by Ferdinand Leitner, catalog number DG 437 721-2. There is another live recording with Solti and Goltz on ORFEO. You can search for these on AMAZON. BTW, you can always search Amazon or GOOGLE the work when looking for recordings. Note, neither set comes with translation!

  • What an interesting music. It seems like there are no complete recordings of this opera :(

  • I don't understand a word, but this has te be Antigone's last speech. It's curious, because her monologue is not that long. Can anybody give a clue about this? I'm so interested in this work!

  • Hello

    How to buy this video?

    Thank you

  • As usual, Orff's music works beautifully with Greek tragedies... elemental music & primordial human emotions.
