  • EH!

  • I know this video is very old but my military screen looks nothing like that.

  • @StevenJacobWagner Well you just answered your own question. There's a new version out nowadays.

  • How do I keep my Dwarfs from heading near fish-infested waters? I have a perfectly good murky pool next to my fort, clear of fish, but for some reason whenever a dwarf heads out to get a bucket of water for someone, they head 2x the distance to get water from a murky pool infested with fish. I just had to ragequit/load an old save because 9 of my Dwarfs died getting water from that pool. The first one went with his bucket, died, dropped the bucket, and more kept flooding to pick up that bucket.

  • @SnakeTheFox Try setting a zone - water source over the pool that is closer by, that should make em go there i think . Also a tip, if one dwarf dies and others rush to get his stuff, straight into the danger, use the orders menu to set dwarfs to auto-forbid items on dwarves who just died.

Also you can also make near the fish a restricted area in the traffic options, that'll make dwarfs think again about which water source might be closer.

  • Your tutorials have gotten me from "What the hell do I do?" to "I get it!" in a short period of time. THANK YOU!

  • These videos are a joy to watch :D thank you!

  • @captnduck Echt? Volgens mij heb ik ze allemaal gekeken, waarschijnlijk niet. Bedankt man :D

  • @captnduck Yes I know but that setup looks a lot easier. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but in the current version you have to manually assign each person's gear separately and with different screens for every item. It takes way too long. BTW, great videos. I went from complete noob to somewhat ok. My current fortress is doing terribly but for some reason hordes of migrants keep coming. :-)

  • Im going to use your tutorials as my bible for this game,

    i need more miners lol

  • @captnduck Thanks for the reply, I ended up building an above-ground well (essentially a well going into an exposed murky pool) so that they would prioritize that instead. Currently my Dorfs are building floors over the water though, for aesthetic reasons and to make it more like a normal well.

Also, thank you for introducing me to Dorf Ortress. I guarantee I never would've been able to get into it as quick as I did (or even at all) without having been linked to these videos.
