Ipswich is a major town in Suffolk which had great landmarks like the Waterfront and Portman Road Stadium. The station is a key interchange on the Great Eastern Main Line with services to Lowestoft on the East Suffolk Line, Cambridge and Peterborough via Bury St Edmunds and Felixstowe with mainline services between Norwich and London.

It is also where the spark for my interest in railways ignited back in 1993 when I was just a toddler. On the day of my visit before I caught the train to Norwich I saw some Class 66's stabled in the Freightliner sidings with two Class 90's. One of them was Class 90 044 in the old Freightliner Grey Livery. I managed to get an arriving Freightliner which was double headed by Class 66 504 hauling dead Class 90 041. The Class 90 must have had a fault en route to require assistance from the Class 66.

An unidentified Class 156 was working the Felixstowe branch plus Class 170 205 was seen working the 11:30 service to London (09:55 from Peterborough). That was what I filmed whilst waiting for the train to Norwich which I have created a video of the journey. To see this search for "Great Eastern Main Line (Ipswich to Norwich)" for the details. Enjoy watching.
