are you a beginner to photoshop? you don't blend the images together very well, and there is not a lot of textures in ur photos at all. I'm not hating but just giving constructive criticism.

what is the reasoning for making separate layers for the gown and sleeves? the shadows and highlights clipping masks i get

jpc1971...thanks for checking out the vid.
My only reason for the separate layers was to help me control the shading that I was doing, in other words when I want to shade the main robe I wouldn't have to be careful to get the shading on the sleeves and such. You can definitely do them all on one layer though, I just found it to be a little easier for me to shade them separately. Have fun.

liked your tutorial i have one question. What tablet do you recomend for painting on photoshop? i hear Genius is a good one
sigiare01 2 years ago
sigiare01, first thanks for checking out the tutorial...glad you liked it! As far as a graphics tablet I use Wacom, specifically the Graphire. They take a little to get use to them but once you do they really work well for certain things.

A fabulous tutorial. Most of the stuff I've looked at are speedpainting but this is actually a well narrated lesson. I'm glad to see you've got loads of layers. I also use lots of layers and I thought I was probably cheating but I've done some nice images myself so it can be done even by a novice. Just practice and patience.

Thanks airscrew1!
Layers are free...and using more can only help with any editing process in the long run as you have discovered. Thanks again and you are correct, practice and patience will bring out better results!
