This is a story of a woman who has had little care for her. She used to be an at home day care worker in Uganda. She was married and had 3 children. In her spare time she loved to do what she was best at, Dance.... A special event was occurring in the capital of Uganda and she was asked to dance for everyone including the Ugandan president; Museveni. As she twirled around little did she know her life was going to change drastically within the next few hours.
She finished her dancing looked up and saw the president smiling right at her and applauding her amazing work. When she returned home she noticed something wasn't right; her husband was acting differently. A friend and her mother along with some children were present in the house when all of the sudden her husband started beating her. In shock on what could of ever happened and not knowing what was happening she froze him fear as his violence only grew.
In desperation her friend and mother stepped in trying to stop this crazed man but his anger only turned onto them. Beating an elderly woman and another woman who was not even related in any sorts to the family may of not been apart of his plan, but nobody really knows what was going inside of him at that time.
As the beating continued the mother, the friend and a child were killed as the woman laid there in pain unable to move. She doesn't remember much but only things were going black. When gaining consciousness this woman learned two things; her husband was killed by mob justice and she has become blind for life.
The last images raced through her head from earlier that day remembering seeing Musevni applauding in approval for her dancing. The colors of the red sand and the blue sky all raced through her head. But the realization of loosing a mother, a friend, and a child has never really settled in with her.
Her story was the news of the town, it made all the local papers and received much attention from all around the area. Yet this blind widow never received any care from anyone. Raising her 3 children alone and blind would be something that would be hard to accomplish. Later on she learned that her Husband had received HIV/AIDs and has transfered it into her and into her youngest child. Devastated and alone she never was cared for by local NGO (non-governmental Organization) providing as much as they can.
Years have passed and through the word of mouth this woman's story was told to a few Americans. Touched by her story and wanting to help her, they assembled a team to come down and rebuild her a home,
This woman Cissy (ceecee). Is now provided with income for 3 years and is learning a skill that she can use to provide for her family. Her children are able to go to school and also receive the care that they need.
