So far this film has had two screenings: a rough cut screening of this film in September 2009 presented by the Southern Theater in Minneapolis, of which John Munger of the TC Daily Planet wrote: You have to see this documentary You have to., and a fine cut at Bell Museum of Natural History, sponsored by the Institute for Advanced Study, University of Minnesota. This seminal dance film by the creative team of Robert C. Hammel, Michele Blanchard and Caitlin Hammel, follows six McKnight Dance Fellows as they commission and create of six unique solos. 'SOLO: 1X2 is a documentary film that reveals the dedication, artistry, and perseverance of these incredible dance artists. A film that examines the creative process it stars: Giocondo Barbuto, Karla Grotting, Colette Illarde, Mifa Ko, Tamara Nadel, Jerry Openaker, Max Pollak, Ranee Ramaswamy, Aparna Ramaswamy, Manuel Reyes, Abdo Sayegh, Colleen Thomas, and Laura Selle Virtucio. International dance artists, including: Nora Chipamuire, Douglas Dunn, Carla Maxwell, Molissa Fenley, Valda Setterfield, Dana Reitz, Susan Marshall, Katsura Kan, Elisabeth Streb Donna Uchizono, and critics such as Deborah Jowitt and Gia Kourlas introduce each section and serve as witnesses to the dancers experiences.
