Zeitgeist: Spirit of the Age Refuted

This film refutes the following claims made in the film Zeitgeist: -Christianity was borrowed from pagan myths? -The Bible was plagiarized? -Jesus wasn't a historical figure? -Christianity was created for social control? -The Bible is based on astrology?

"The first real parallel of a dying and rising god does not appear until A.D. 150, more than a hundred years after the origin of Christianity. So if there was any influence of one on the other, it was the influence of the historical event of the New Testament [resurrection] on mythology, not the reverse. The only known account of a god surviving death that predates Christianity is the Egyptian cult god Osiris. In this myth, Osiris is cut into fourteen pieces, scattered around Egypt, then reassembled and brought back to life by the goddess Isis. However, Osiris does not actually come back to physical life but becomes a member of a shadowy underworld...This is far different than Jesus' resurrection account where he was the gloriously risen Prince of life who was seen by others on earth before his ascension into heaven." --Dr. Norman Geisler

  • @Taurion4467 - John was written under the reign of Domitian and 3:16 very possibly refers to his father and brother. Domitian did complete and dedicate the temple of Titus and Vespasian. They both/all "lived forever".

If you do not accept this interpretation of Christian writings then fine.

All the best in life and thank you for the time you have already taken in talking with me.

  • @Franknarfable i won't argue i know i won't win you seem to know more about this than i do but i promise you that you have not read the bible if you did your heart would be open and we wouldn't be having this discussion, but your heart is filled with confusion and pride, your choice is your own but Jesus is always ready to forgive you

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

  • @Taurion4467 - Immediately following the capture on the Mount of Olives, Josephus reveals a passage in which Titus states that three times he has exhorted Simon to "peace" and three times he had been denied.

It's getting ridiculous now isn't it?

It's not an attack, it's an identification of parallels that exist between two pieces of historical writing. And they keep piling up.

I have read the bible, it's fiction and that's the irrefutable truth.

  • @Franknarfable I have made my choice i have reasons for my choice i didn't come to this choice by accident, you have made your choice and i wish you all the best with it and for your sake i hope I'm wrong the day your myth becomes accepted i will accept it till than nothing but the same old attack on Jesus that always fail you will never defeat Jesus or his truth i tell you now accept his free offer of salvation for you will never receive this in any other book, read the bible and than we can talk

  • @Taurion4467 - Three men crucified, one survives, but where do the crucifixions take place?

In the NT it is at ‘Golgatha’ meaning ‘empty skull’ while in Josephus it is at Thecoas – theo Coas – the Roman god of the inquirying mind.

    Now that's genius.

You believe the empty skull story and I'll stick with the inquiring mind.

  • @Franknarfable ehh your choice there is no winning with you im sure if i spent time to research it more i would be able to make you lay an egg but there is no point i already know there is no helping you its your choice if you don't want to accept Jesus free offer of salvation im only here to preach the gospel not defend Jesus from a myth like this, you can win this i don't mind either way you have never read the bible so you will never understand good day to you sir n good luck in life

  • @Taurion4467 - So you're getting personal with Robert Eisenman now too? Oh my. You wanted a scholar and I gave you one. He endorses the Titus/Jesus typology and you rush out to discredit him. The Titus/Jesus typology is about 5 years old, time is on my side here.

What theory is out-dated? Eisenmans? This isn't his theory, he simply endorsed it.

Eisenman gets great praise for his work on the pro-roman nature of the New Testament. Did you read about that? Perhaps not.

  • @Taurion4467 - The thing is, you're not saying anything. I have studied and read and gone back and forth with this Jesus thing. I have spoken to many people and I know that the majority of scholars believe in the historical Jesus. I know all of this.

I cannot remember his name (great eh) but a scholar about 100 years ago claimed that the gospels accounts must of been based on a real person. The idea of historical Jesus has stemmed from then, it's not been advanced upon.

  • @Franknarfable

robert eisenman loves islam that his become a professor in Islamic law im sure maybe being a muslim is a better idea maybe give that a try, its also quite funny how he pops up on muslim tv shows cause his on their side even though scholarly consensus is against him im just reading about some reviews on him and friend im sorry they don't seem good at all im sorry but his theory are outdated and still not accepted maybe if paleography and C-14 dating agreed with his theories haha

  • @Franknarfable There is nothing personal here it your choice to believe he was a myth or to accept what he offered cause you will find what he offered in no other book, im sure you don't have any better answers for life, what do believe anyway just curious? and i wont continue this debate simply because i know that more historians and scholars believe he existed and that no matter what i write or say your mind will not change.the things you speak of Jesus will never become reality just theory
