http://shilohtv.com Trail Boss Steve Doran shows you how to make a self feeding wilderness stove out of a piece of wood. Anyone can do it in mere minuets, with limited tools and resources, it burns for hours and saves fuel. It will ensure you have a well cooked meal or hot cup of coffee on the trail just about anywhere. For the full article and more free information, outdoor articles and videos go to www.shilohtv.com

  • Excellent video. Beats weaving a bunch of green willows to make a grate for your campfire and weighs less than a portable with lantern fuel.

  • Thanks for watching my friend

  • I tried this last weekend. I used a pine log about 18 inches long and about 6 inches in diameter. It was a pain to get it to split wide enough for air flow without splitting the log completely apart. But once I got the fire going it really worked well. All I did was boil about 4 cups of water just to see if I could.

Two thumbs up for an excellent survival tip!

  • thanks for watching, and if it splits all the way it is ok if you have a way to hold the bottom together like in sandy or loose soil

  • Thanks for the idea. I've never seen that before and I will definitely have to give it a shot the next time I'm on an excursion.

  • We appreciate you watching

  • eating the head of fish.. filipino style..

  • Nice video. I saw a similar technique used at a winter festival in Bavaria. There they split three to four foot logs in the same way and used them as long burning fires for warmth and atmosphere.
