  • I think the opening to this segment is "key". No trust, no relationship, whether between individuals or between the individual and any organization. I agree blind trust is ill-advised. How do we un-blind this trust? By forming smaller societies? I think the key rather lies in "everyone knows one another". Whether a relationship or group is small or big, trust is survival & increases if we are able to "say hello to one another", as would result in a "smaller" world (e.g. computers).

  • While I agree trust between individuals or society is the key, however blind trust in institutions like the State or Private sectors may be somewhat misplaced. As the philosopher David Hume once pointed out historically there have been no social contract between either society and the State nor between Society and Capitalism. And just like feudalism before it ALL were imposed by an Elite via force, conquest & coersion!

  • I think your right, when that society holds within the dominated paradigm, but as you imply humans face-to-face don't normally behave that way, so we must nurture cultures have develop more in the way of Being as apposed to the having mode of existence. Which coupled to as you say smaller community based horizontial

(non-heriarchical) affinity group and or free associations.

  • Very interesting pionts David. I alas am reluctant to believe trust & good will is sinstilled in everyone. I used to be one of Gordon Shippy`s neighbours & he`ll tell you we`ve had some interesting debates over this same issues (usually of a difference stance LOL). I think it is indeed possible to have groups/villages maybe even towns with similar ideals but the larger the number alas the greater chance of Greed & all the other uglies some people hold dear to themselves. Trust is key
