Alas, it is not possible to use voice commands on DVDs. This isn't a surprise, though, since no two menus are alike, and it would really be impossible to map all the possible combinations and voice commands. My overall opinion on the Kinect has improved greatly since the latest update, so I still recommend it.

Good question! I will try to test that sometime today or tomorrow if I have time. The latest XBox Dashboard update integrates the Kinect much better than it did previously. You can use voice and gesture commands for just about everything (though oddly, the YouTube app, while very nice overall, doesn't let you voice search). You can use voice commands in NetFlix, but I'll check out a DVD and let you know.

A year after reviewing the Kinect, I can say that it's worth the money if you're going to use it. I mean, really use it. I haven't all that much, not because it doesn't work, but I have a bad back and standing for long periods of time (like 20 minutes) can aggrevate it. DjDedan is absolutely right though, the response time is not quite up to par with a regular controller. The games they have are fun, the product itself is worth the money.

That was a 40". Right after that video, we upgraded to a 55", which did seem to tighten up the space a tiny bit. But it still works well, and several months after its release, they've quietly made more improvements to all aspects of it, so it works even better. More precise and better voice tracking.
