hard to believe she had a hip replaced. she does looks great.

You may have seen comments on here intimating that Mary Lou only won because other countries boycotted the Olympics. What those who say that do not know or perhaps chose not to recall is that Retton was one of the actual favorites going in because she had already defeated all the best gymnasts in the world in prior competitions. She had the best floor and vault in the world at the time. All Retton had to do to win any gymnastics event was to not fall off the aparatus. Sorry if the truth hurts.

I think shes great. Although gymnastics is said to have damaged some young girls, I think Retton had the right mental constitution for the hard training and competition. She is very positive and strong-minded. She was also lucky to peak at the right time.
