The Ibanez S series first appeared in 1987. Ever since, it has changed in appearance and function to represent the cutting edge of Ibanez design. Famous for its lightweight carved mahogany body, the S can take a beating while still providing the resonance of guitars twice its size. The S series also comes equipped with the ZR tremolo system, a smooth ball bearing tremolo that makes every subtle nuance of whammy bar use come alive.

  • I had trouble playing the Gibson SG because of it just being too small/light and I'm a Big Man. I usually stand when playing, do you think this one will give me trouble also? Are these about twice the thickness as the new RG920 line?

  • @hawg427 This guitar has a very very thin body. its sounds really good for how streamline it is. The 920 is almost twice as thick for the most part

  • What do you think is better quality sound? I play metal and i want a new guitar but im stuck debating on wether getting the Ibanez grga42tqa or the ibanez s570dxqm

  • @222RL I like the versatility of the 570....You can't go wrong there!

  • @turbocamps This is a great guitar for that!!

  • @NstuffMusic BIG difference in price too :-) Maybe Ibanez puts more quality in it's stuff than other name brands like " G " where you pay a lot for than headstock name. From what I'm gathering the S Prestige line is like others "Custom Shop" lines? Thank's for the reply.

  • Just a point to clarify, the "quilted top" is just a very thin veneer and not a maple cap, technically. I'm NOT saying that to be negative at all, just to help people's expectations as to what they are getting. This is a great guitar for the money - period! Peace. -dave

  • Excellent.

  • @JZ8KJ With locking tremolos, you would use the tuner keys to get the guitar "in tune", and then you would crank down on the locking nut. there are fine tuner knobs on the bridge to get it fully in tune. This way when you are using the tremolo arm, it wont go out of tune because the strings/tuning is locked in place.

  • @NstuffMusic I'm eclectic: I play many diverse styles ranging from classic hard rock, progressive, jazz fusion, blues, heavy metal and even heavier metal. Any ideas?
