With the efforts of all the volunteers of the catskill Mt Railroad, we have now aquired a former Long Island RR, and former Staten Island Rapid transit alco S1 locomotive #407. This is our next step in supporting our growing ridership along with ulster counties growing tourism base. The aquisition of this new locomotive marks the start the CMRR's next chapter as we work toward rebuilding the former Ulster & delaware line to the Ashokan reservoir. This video shows 407's maiden run eastbound to rock cut. This after being reassembled by the catskill Moutain Railroad volunteers in only one day after being placed back on the rails. An amazing event for 407 considering it was very very close to being scrapped.
