GARY LUCAS: PART 5 LIVE Knitting Factory NYC
Gary Lucas, whom Melody Maker once described as "a true axe God",
here ascends into the blue empyrean with his arrangement/elaboration
of Popol Vuh's theme for Werner Herzog's "Aguirre, the Wrath of
God", in a tribute to the late great German film actor Klaus Kinski.
This is followed by his pastorale "The Sheep Look Up"--and then we're
into the molecular mikrosmos of "Scud Patrol (Flux et Veritas)". This
then segues into "Hitchcocked", Gary's medley of some of the classic
film music Bernard Hermann composed for Alfred Hitchcock, beginning
with Gary's arrangement of the theme from "Vertigo"--followed by a
descent into the hallucinatory vortex of "Psycho".

This is amazing - it perfectly captures the sound and feeling that Florian & Werner realized in the film Aguirre. Immense kudos for selecting this piece and playing it so well - to do it in a live setting, too - amazing and incredible. There is a skull watching from over your left leg - is that you, Florian? Thank you, Gary!
