Home brew motion capture using 3 sony hdr-hc1 cams and matchmover I managed to capture the performance of my friend Tod and apply it to character studio's biped.

Using white pieces of packing material strapped on to a diving suit and a cyclist suit I managed to get footage for matchmoving.
Then by tracking each marker on the home made suit from three angles matchmover gave a moving point cloud.
I then expoerted this through deepexploration software and made a marker position mocap file which I had to translate through software so I could further convert it into limb rotation data. This was then loaded into a biped structure in 3dsmax.

The resulting file could be loaded into any character studio biped.

  • Hey is there any way to fake 3D motion capture with 2D or only 2 cameras?

  • @PliskinNH yes, look for ipi software.

  • matchmover 4 for tracking, deep exploration and custom app for file format conversion and 3dsmax and biped for rig/animation.

this info was also available under info
