One of William's most glorious "pastiche" works; he cribs just about everybody here: Copeland, Elmer Bernstien, Leonard Bernstein, Tiomkin, everybody who composed for Hawks, Ford, and Stevens - and he even predicts some of his own gestures in "1941" - and does it all brilliantly and deliciously: a minor icon of work back when he was just some guy. Check out his lovely (but brief) work for "Sugarland Express" and his great - but underappreciated score for "Cinderella Liberty."
