As-salaam alaikum, just got a comment, I am a Muslim came into deen about a year ago. Before then I was into the entertainment business, marketing and promoting local artist. I want to get back into it, but when i talk to more experienced brothers in deen, they tell me that music and stuff is Haram and this and that, really discouraging me from getting into entertainment for Muslims. I have a lot of ideas about what i can do with this deen and entertainment. but I run into extreme Muslims

The issue of music is open to ikhtilaaf (differences of opinion) in Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh). That's why it's very to do research and know both sides of the issue.

What we also need is Muslims to OPEN their wallets too. I BUY albums, for example, even though I could easily just bootleg. Why? Because I want to support the artists I like (especially real hip hop). We--Muslims, that is--need to have the same attitude towards Muslim entertainment. If we don't support it, it won't get produced.
