you could score a mobo on ebay, but as you know it's always a crap shoot.
gotta love klien tools.

That's funny. That's the Intel version of the DV6000. Not the failure-prone AMD version. Try cleaning the board components near the battery holder area, towards the outer side of the board, with some electronics cleaner. Corrosion there seems to cause significant power issues on this board. That's what happened with my Intel-based dv6700. It's now up and running happy as can be, and has for several months.

@Volatus hey bud ,, thanks for taking the time to write..I wish I could say that was my problem. After much testing by multi volt meter, I was able to determine that the SMP (switch mode power supply) was bad. I had hoped to replace just the USB/POWER BOARD, but this part by itself on my hp dv6700 / 6000 was still good, although now a year later even this part is prone to failure. The ONLY answer to this (plugged in not charging) was to replace the motherboard. I got a refurb 4 parts.

I ended up getting a refurb , and switching out the hard drive, as the cost of the motherboard for the hp plus the service would not be worth it. Now I have spare parts, batteries, lcds, power brick.
