A contemplation and celebration of glass in science. Its been said that one reason the industrial revolution occurred in Europe was the development of sophistacted glass. With clear glass, test tubes and flasks can be made enabling chemistry. With lenses - microscopes and telescopes, expanding our understanding of the world. Asia had very sophisticated ceramics which some say slowed the development of glass, and earthquakes in countries like Japan discouraged the use of glass in windows.
The developments of sophisticated glass, lead to the improvement of spectacles extending the working life of researchers. In the 20th Century Use of glass in the cathode ray tubes and in valves was equally vital.
