Music from Australia and New Zealand in the year 1976:

Ted Mulry Gang's promo-video for the hit single 'Jamaica Rum' (January, 1977), taken from the 1976 album 'Steppin' Out'.

Note: This single was released in January, 1977 and is considered a 1977 hit. However, due to this video clip first being premiered on Countdown in December of 1976, and the parent album being a popular item in the same year, I figured it'd be best to add this clip in my nzoz1976 channel.

  • never heard of this band b4.....sounds pretty cool...wish i would have heard them back i n the 70's......did they ever hit it big in the states?.rock on

  • 'Lazy Eyes' (found on my nzoz1978 account) was the closest they ever had a hit in the US.

TMG's biggest hit 'Jump In My Car' was made a hit again by David Hasselholf (check both versions on youtube).

  • Don't know if anyone can clear this up for me. I checked this song in the Australian Rock Encyclopedia and it said this was a hit in March 1977 and yet I can remember this song being included in a Countdown episode from January 1977 which featured the hit singles from the previous meaning this was a hit from 1976.

  • The video clip was premiered on Countdown in December 1976 - meaning it falls into the 1976 category. It did, however, become a hit in March 1977...
