This is a shelter built form scavenged Tyvek. It is light weight, waterproof and easy to build.

  • cool! why does the smoke not go inside the shelter?

  • @ncbookz The wind is parallel to the opening.

  • As always cool video. Whats your top made of? or who make them?

    Thanks

    Kuro

  • @knifedrago That is a wool shirt made by Empire Wool and Canvas Works

  • any reason why tyvek vs poly sheeting? Also tyvek isn't waterproof but very repellant it is also very crinkly which can be remedied by throwing the tarp in your wash, it comes out soft and does make much noise in the wind but is still very water reppellant.

Also what was that neck knife rig?

  • @harvestblades I used Tyvek in this video. I am going to do another shelter type with poly in the near future.

  • I was surprised at how loud the Tyvek was as you built the shelter. Have you been in it as it rained ot sleeted? I have some from our house when it was sided and it actually has a layer of that silver mylar built into one side. I folded up a 10x8 foot piece that fits into a standard military first ait kit pouch along with pre-made bank line stake cords. The only thing I did different was use duct tape I had in the truck to the corners and where I staked out to stop rips and tears.

  • Neat-O idea. I don't know anything about Tyveck other than it's a building matriel. I thought it was like insulated siding panels but now I see it's a fabric. Seems like a good product for my BOB. I'm thinking it's very light and a 12'x12' piece would make a shelter for 2 campers? And fold up small, maybe in Gallon Ziplock? Thanks for the show, man!

  • Good job! That little fire is so warm ... don't always need a big one =)

I have yet to use my axe like a hammer that hard ... not sure if I am ready too heh.

  • i have thought about taking a space blanket, tyvek and some spray glue and putting them together

do you think it would work?

  • Nicely done, and well shown.

  • i have a suggestion, that ridgepole that you have sticking out of the front of shelter about 2 feet might actually end up being detrimental to you. if it rains, the rain might land on the ridgepole and run downward, dripping droplets of water all over the inside of your shelter. just a thought. nice video though, good info.

  • looks good

  • this is what people need to wake up and learn
