Hey man I have a couple of questions concerning this piece:
first off, in what scale are you comping/soloing? The Real Book (what I'm using) lists it in F Lydian, but it clearly needs more than that, because the theme has elements of a minor, blues and a major. I'm curious as to how you are comping around it.
Also, the bassist: what exactly is he playing in? I would imagine there is quite a bit of chromatic thrown in there with bass on F, but I'm stilli curious

We're using chords and sounds based on F. Check out different players' approaches for ideas. Stephen Scott said that everyone has their own way of doing this style. BTW, get out of reading Fakebooks or charts when you play. They keep you from really learning music and getting it in your head. That goes for all styles from classical to jazz and everything in between. Peace....
