  • wow, never seen a corn binder without the shock gathering device on it.

  • @oldtimeway1 We have two binders and neither is equipped with the catcher, although the could be. We use our visitos to gather and build the shocks - one of the advantages of being a farm open to the public is that the learners are also laborers!

  • These were developed after oxen had been replaced by horses as the primary draft animal. My guess would be that oxen would not be able to maintain the pace needed to keep the machine operating efficiently.

  • Haven't seen too any corn binding vids except this one. I bet binders are hard to come by now.
