Thunder UK June 28 2011, LOUD.m4v

This was a crazy storm in Sussex on 28 June. Lasted 5 hours but have captured the worst few minutes. With captions and slowed-down strikes. I got very scared as in remote wooden bungalow with not much protection. Those of you who have uploaded, you got off lightly! This is LOUD and got personal! Enjoy

Lightning clips are pretty loud if you're underneath them! The sound is caused by static and arcing between 2 points.

Thanks for your comments. We live near Handcross, which seem to bear the brunt. It WAS overhead which is why I couldn't film much lightning. Apparently it cooked one of the electricity poles! As for storm chasing, I got too scared!!!

I was standing in a field in Rowfant near Crawley Down when this cold front bumped into the warm moist air. Take a look at my video, not much to look at but sound was recorded on a professional recorder.

I've heard lightning but it didn't sound like that, the thunder though i'm surprised didn't blow up your windows.

Great video.. next time if you are there get in to your car before the storm gets too close. With rubber tyres the car acts as a faraday cage protecting the occupants even from a direct strike. That looked very scarey and too close. Thanks for sharing.

I was at school in Portsmouth when a thunderstorm  happened at lunchtime, i saw a triple, 3 in 1 CG bolt, followed by a massive thunderclap, I didn't stay outside for long...

@janepolly That's all right. I forgive you. I thought you send this message to me earlier. I didn't know you send it to someone else and I know how you feel about thunder & lightning scared you. I'm scared of thunder & lightning to and I hated it so much. It scared the living daylights out of me.
