This is a video guide to show you how to perform the level 5 abdominal control exercises. Once you master this level you will be progressed to challenging exercises. Your Health professional will give you the sets and repetitions to perform. Ensure that you maintain your lower back position so that it does not arch off the floor. Unlike the earlier progressions in this group, you will notice a lot more general abdominal loading. This is normal for this more advanced exercise.

  • Notice how the demonstrator is unable to maintain spinal neutral. She loses the ability to keep the TA contracted thereby hyperexteningd the lumbar, thoracic, and cervical spine. This shows that even a fit individual lacks the ability to protect the lumbar spine if pathology is present with B LE extension without support. Leaving the opposite lower extremity in contact with the surface, or extending the mobile lower extremity in a modified range, will allow a smoother transition between stages.
