David Ball and his Pioneer Playboys play to a sellout crowd at The Showroom in Spartanburg, South Carolina, David's boyhood hometown. David sings Harlan Howard's "Pick Me Up on Your Way Down." This country standard was made famous by Charlie Walker when he recorded it making it the #2 country smash of 1958. Patsy Cline did a memorable version as well. The Pioneer Playboys: Troy Cook Jr., guitar & vocals; Scott Metko, drums & vocals; Billy Pierce, bass.

  • I've known David's lead guitar player and back up vocals, Troy Cook Jr. sitting to his left on screen since he was a baby. He's an awesome guitar playing and and singer but plays many other instruments too. David's style of music is right up Troy's alley. Great video!

  • It was a fun evening. Troy done good.

  • REAL country music by REAL people! Unlike the tinsel town electronically aided Hollywood country models that main stage the industry these days. I can't wait to see these old boys live one day when they come near Northern Arizona. I'd put David Ball's writing and playing up against anyone who ever wrote AND sang and the Pioneer Playboys are a perfect compliment to his sound..Never stop playing fellas, I'll buy every thing you record.

  • I knew David back when he was opening up for Brooks & Dunn with the Tractors opening up for us both. David is a CLASS ACT and brooks no tolerance for kissing butt to make a record. May David live long and sing strong.

This was the opening song for his act then, and OMG I can still remember the hard driving bass and "Wild Billy" Hillman on guitar..... I'm in tears remembering

  • Troy is great, as a musician as well as a singer in his own right. I've known him for over 10 years and am very close with his family. I call him my "little brother." We recorded a duet together a few years ago too, an old Ernest Tubb/Loretta Lynn duet, "Our Hearts Are Holding Hands." It went to #1 on the European CMA charts in January 2008.

  • Great song & Pickin' too! Love David Balls music. Ive played in Texas for 25+ years in my country bands & THIS STYLE is all we will play. The REAL country music......this is ALL the people request! Cool Tele licks their my Friend!

  • Tell Troy howdy from his California friend, Suzi and I wish you both the best ! Keep it Country!

  • great keep rocking
