  • don't memorize the spelling of every individual word they use, there is a recognizable structure to language.

The knowledge of this structure includes knowledge of foreign words and transliterated words used in the English language, how to recognize them by sound and spell them accordingly. It's in this area that people make quite a lot of mistakes.

  • @gat0rbball

Forget the "rote memorization" excuse. Intelligent people know to pick up a dictionary (As well as WHY that should be done) and check a word they're not sure of, or in this case using Google or Webster's Online Dictionary.

Part of intelligence is the recognition of that extra effort needed to BECOME a better speller, to add more words to one's vocabulary which can be spelled properly.

What you're saying about spelling being rote memorization itself is only partially true. Peop

  • So network tv footage was "banned"? What a steaming load.
