The 1st step to creating a realistic Earth in blender 3d. Intermediate Blender experience maybe needed to create this. I'm not a professional, so I understand if you aren't satisfied by this tutorial. There are many things I may have left out also. Sorry if you wanted voice, but I dislike my voice and its really hard for me to talk without talking awkwardly and repeating myself lol. In this step we are going to create the normal maps that are needed to define the textures of Earth.

  • @SauronsEye Yeah, I just remembered lol. Would've been a lot easier if I done that. Thanks for the heads up though.

  • You do know that you can make a bump map out of a photo in Blender?

Create a mesh that you'll use to project your image against. With the mesh selected, create a material. Go to textures, add a texture. add your image. Then uncheck colour, check normals and RGB to intensity. You adjust the normals value to determine the level of the bump map.

Unchecking colours and checking RGB to intensity changes the image to a black and white image.
