"Desde los primeros descubrimientos de esqueletos y huevos de dinosaurio en 1922, las investigaciones paleontológicas en la República Popular de Mongolia han despertado la atención de los expertos y del público en todo el mundo. Los progresos en las investigaciones realizadas en los últimos veinte años han permitido ampliar su conocimiento demostrando su relación con los dinosaurios de América del Norte. Los dinosaurios de Asia Central, excepto una o dos variedades, están todos representados en el grupo de Mongolia y proporcionan un excelente cuadro del variado mundo de animales terrestres del periodo cretácico. En cuanto a la variedad de especies carnívoras del cretácico, Mongolia ostenta el primer puesto mundial, ya que casi todas las especies conocidas de los demás continentes están presentes. Además, existe un grupo que se encuentra únicamente en el desierto de Gobi y comprende casi las tres cuartas partes de todas las familias clasificadas por los científicos."
