The best steam railroad documentary ever. The rare Climax geared locomotive (Hillcrest Lumber #10) is one of two steam engines facing this extreme challenge... helping to save a railroad bridge from coming winter storms. Even little kids love this video.

  • I'm right near the other Climax running. About one hour and a half from where it is running. Still going in overhaul but should be done soonish

  • Nice to see preserved loco's that aren't leaking steam out of every packing gland.

  • Ferdinand!

  • Was this shot in the 1990s? There actually is another 3-Truck Climax getting restored to operation at West Virginia's "Cass Scenic Railroad" if you're curious to know.

  • @keywestredbeard there is an operational Climax locomotive at Clark's Trading Post in Lincoln, New Hampshire, if you're interested.

  • ...ah-hh, the fragrance of a big, hot steamy greasy 'n' oiled machine workin' true!

Brings to mind when America was THE industrial giant...American bought-American

made!... Screw the liberals!... Investors!... Bring it BACK!!... A Return of decent workin'

jobs that have decent pay 'n' benefits 'n' profits for investors!

I love these machines- I grew up amongst the great engines of industry...

  • It's a shame they didn't have the #91 ready for that. She would have made a hell of a show, ... and not have broken down.... like some engines.

  • Nice to see footage of the Climax geared steam loco - that's Ferdinand's prototype!
