against a fencer taller than you must do a "falk" attack to keep his blade and go to corpse to corpse fight . If you can take the blade your are the master of the game because of the benefit of the speed§ Just try the "prime liée septime" it will open you the door for close fight

@Oreo00000000 To some extent yes. Shorter fencers have a lower centre of gravity and are able to co-ordinate their feet faster than their taller opponents. (Its just physics!) but because double hits are allowed in epee if both opponents aim for the arm/wrist and then remise to the body, the taller opponent will there first. This isnt an issue in the ther disciplines but in epee you can get caught out many times if you attempt compound attacks and your opponent is much taller.

Against a much taller fencer unless you KNOW where his blade is you should never just beat or feint. The attacks when made should be done in opposition with an advance, so as to get rid of the point. Most of the time the shorter fencer should play for countertimes with a well sold feints. Pizzo allowed Grumier to play the long distance game which in epee is an early journey to the showers
