Charles J. Beirne, S.J., Le Moyne Colleges 11th president, who was recognized for his outstanding contributions to social justice during a 40-year career.
As another alumnus of CSI '66, I remember fondly when Father Beirne was sent to teach us. When he was chosen to go to El Salvador years later, none of us were surprised. By then he had taught us to face adversity frontally, with confidence. In several reunions, classmates have reached a consensus that he taught life lessons by example. We were all very fortunate to know him at that stage of our lives, his included. His achievements after our graduation have kept that inspiration strong.
Father Charles J. Beirne, S.J.'s students of the Colegio San Ignacio, Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, class of 1966, are proud to have our High School mentioned as part of Father Beirne's curriculum vitae. This pride is certainly shared by all in our High School community and beyond that have been touched by his example. Fortes in Fide. Indeed. Congratulations Father Beirne, and thank you for exemplifying our motto with your example. Juan J. Martinez-Rodriguez, Esq. - Colegio San Ignacio '66.
