Miss Jane Covington was recognized for her service in the US Navy during World War II by Honor Flight, Inc. "Miss Jane" joined the WAVES in January, 1942 and was stationed in Miami, Florida as a Pharmacists Mate until her discharge in November, 1945.

On September 24, 2008, Miss Jane and 154 other Tennessee veterans and their companions were flown to Washington D.C. Miss Jane was accompanied by her nephew, Billy Cromer. After eating lunch on the White House lawn and reviewing the Men's memorial, they were taken to the World War II Memorial, which is flanked by the Washington Monument on one side and the Lincoln Memorial on the other.
