"Glory In The Meeting House"- Laurel Bloomery, Old Time Fiddlers Convention

The first number performed is "Glory In The Meeting House". Maisie Newell and Cecil Garganus perform two numbers with twin fiddles- first is in "Twin Fiddle" competition and the second is with a convention get-up band "Ask About Tree Work". They took Third Place in this competition at the Johnson County Old Time Fiddlers Convention.


The Johnson County Old Time Fiddlers Convention has been held now for the 84th consecutive year in Johnson County and for the last 18 consecutive years it has been held at the Old Mill Music Park in Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee. The music park performance center is built around the 100 year old depot of the former narrow gauge Laurel Railway. It was held on August 21 and 22, 2009 and it is usually the same weekend that NASCAR comes to Bristol Motor Speedway nearby.

This seems to be the only time they performed together before I bailed out at 12:20 AM on Sunday morning. I think they all appeared in other competitions but only individually. The young lady fiddler put on a wonderful Friday night performance in individual fiddle that I intend to post here.
