I always wondered how the people that killed so many on that day could carry on life without and remorse, i as a cotholic living in Northern Ireland am ashamed of the BASTARDS that planted that bomb.

I remember seeing him play this on the Late, Late Show on the Friday after the bombing (and he said he wouldn't play it again) - just as well he did. Thanks very much for posting this - last heard it twenty-three years ago but I'll never forget it.

Standing at the war memorial,
children hand in hand,
People getting ready, they’re waiting for the band.
And old men with their memories of comrades gone away,
yes, it's great to be in Ireland on Rememberance Day.

And her words did more to make us one
Than a hundred years of a bomb and a gun,
let the so-called patriots
see what they have done!

When the wild wind came without a word,
just a sudden flash of light,
many there were taken, husbands, children, wives.
And the young girl in the ruin felt her father’s touch
And her dying words were "Daddy, I love you very much."
And her words did more to make us one
Than a hundred years of a bomb and a gun,
let the so-called patriots
see what they have done!

Oh let them wake up in the morning to another day of pain, oh let them feel the endless heartache that never goes away, and let them hear the million voices that say on that day: "I’m ashamed to be Irish, on Rememberance Day." Standing at the war memorial, children hand in hand, another year is over, perhaps we’ll understand. That words of love are stronger than words of hate, let us not forget what happened on Rememberance day. Oh let us not forget what happened on Rememberance day.
