Ikr? Honestly, New Day Rising, along with Meat is Murder, Tim, Road to Ruin, Plastic Surgery Disasters, Paul's Boutique, OK Computer, Tommy, and Meddle are the soundtracks to my high school career. New Day Rising is one of my all-time favorite albums, darn shame that it doesn't have the popularity of, say, Dark Side of the Moon.

Yeah, Green Day DOES sound rather similar to Husker Du at times, especially in their early days. Green Day even did a cover of Don't Want to Know If You Are Lonely. I grew out of Green Day, but the fact that they are influenced by Husker Du makes me respect them considerably.

I have ALWAYS thought that Green Day (my era at least... pre-1994) sounded like Husker Du. Especially the guitar playing.

New Day Rising is awesome, one of the best albums of the 80s!! I love how New Day Rising mixes noisy hardcore punk with melodic, well-written pop songs. New Day Rising also influenced alternative rock and pop punk; I wouldn't be surprised if Nirvana and Green Day took some notes from this record.
