Here is another of my uploads that was accidentally deleted, so I'm starting over. It is one of Connie's superb medleys, this time saluting the music of George Gershwin, one of the most notable composers of popular music in the 20th century. As she does with all of her medleys, she adds meaningful lyrics and commentary of her own. I believe this is one of her best performances. I was able to crop the image to get rid of those time codes that are on so many other copies - and I boosted the color and sound just a tad.

  • All of Connie's TV performances were first class, but the Gershwin and Cole Porter Medleys performed on the Ed Sullivan Show are stand outs among her performances. She jsut hits those note sperfectly and her arranger, Joe Mazzu, was a genius in forming medleys. Connie was the envy of all in show biz.

  • "Someone To Watch Over Me" is arguably the most beautiful song ever written.

I can name two dozen super-stars who have recorded it since the 1950`s.

Here is truly the "Crime Of The Century" : Connie has recorded over 1,000 songs, including three having titles starting with the word "Someone".

Yet, she somehow neglected to record Gershwin`s greatest gem ever!

In this video starting at 2:54...she gives us a brief, beautiful snippet of "what might have been".

    I am sick over this!
