Well I got tired last week of SL's ups and downs so I gave it a rest and decided to check out the Central Grid. I had gone there months ago with a few friends and we just couldnt stay on. So I gave up. I had even started to build but when i went back it was all gone.

I got on this time but same old thing..crash log in crash log in.

I met a few people in there that seem to be the ones who know whats going on there. Not sure if they had the same trouble as me but I did see thier legs buckling also from under them.

I was able to create new cloths and change my eye color and hair. WHOO HOO! Big deal really in there. Its a clean slate.

There has been some building going on but God only knows how the heck they pulled that off because you cant stay on long enough to put out a box most times.

Your planted in the ground when you log in at times too and with your legs all distorted. Funny. You end up free flying into the abiss or walking backwards trying not to look back but your forced to.

So you think SL had trouble? How long will it take for these other grids to become stable and worth while? Not sure. But a lot of work needs to be done still.

Seems like the financial district / land sales are most dominant there.

If you want to take a peek just a bit of warning if you dont want them to know who you are in SL dont write it in. You have an option. But umm get ready for them to know a lot more about you and it aint Linden Labs. Great! HMMM.

Im growing very tired of all this but I see the potential. I really do. (I really mean that) And I see the need for others to be patient.

If your investing a lot of $$ into this game at this time. Well it isnt the swiftest thing to do. Just because its ifffy.

This will eventually go to the big boys, these sites. The ones who can aford to have thier own support groups. i see that in the future as it has been told. not sure about the general population though and if they will ever be the main priority.

Wer pretty much free labor and creators for them while we have fun. so if you get in have as much fun if you can or get your business done first.

There have been some good days and bad days but the bad ones our more frquent now. Doenst mean it isnt going to someday in our life time it will work smoothly.

Go in with just wanting to invest a little to get started and just learn the ropes and expect to be a lab rat for awhile. You dont even have to spend any money either.

Its pretty much a testing ground still and Im talking the SL SL.

A lot of bugs have to be worked out to bring them to the next generation of virual reality as we would like it.

I think it will happen but patience is a virtue. Time is another thing and real life should always be the priority.

Iv listened to some very serious economic forecasters and they actually talked about Second Life.

Took me by surprise to hear from the mouths of the caliber of this one person speak of virtual worlds as the future and to expect much more. Its the furture for many companies to save money and others to communicate ideas and so on.

So I guess I will be patient. But it worth it to follow whats happening and evolving there so as to keep up.

Well Enjoy Central Grid!

  • these graphics are lame

  • The truth is, despite your text above, I did *not* set my home to Tiger Claw, or any other location. You are mistaken.

Additionally, I spoke to absolutely NO ONE in my travels in Central Grid. Several times, in each new sim I flew though, I "shouted" this: "Hewo Wurld".

I did not reply to any offer from help from you, because I did not see any text from any avatar at any time.

I never expected this discussion, but you have problems with accuracy, and also with humility about your software.

  • 07/08/2008 04:11 PM - Avatar Created

07/08/2008 04:13 PM - Avatar Home Set Castle TigerClaw (128,128,25)

You changed it after it was created.

  • When a new avatar is created, there is no option to change home landing point. Only name and password.

After the avatar is created and set to the default Central Grid Home, you can select from the pull down menu to manualy change your home region. That is what you did.

As for editing your items on your avatar, they work for the other 2000+ avatars.

I also was in the home region when you was there. I was sitting on a box asking people if they needed help. You said you didnt need help.

  • "Tiger Claw" was the default home region in the drop-down tab--I did not manually set it. And that is where I landed.

More people will be swayed by your insistence, against your users' experience, that your new system operates perfectly.

I was able to wear new items, but not able to edit my avatar and change and save the items, as you insist. You ought to trust that your users are reporting the facts as they experience them. What you think you code and what actually happens can differ.

  • You had to manualy set your avatar to that region. From the grid avatar page of the website, you can change where your avatar will land upon login.

By default, all new avatars are automaticly set to Central Grid Home.

I do try to defend our grid to new possible members that read from posting people make.

Too many times people make mistakes and the messages will sway people from using Central Grid. I am only trying to post the facts.

  • I don't think it benefits you to have this discussion on YouTube, but when you're telling me to believe you over my own experience, you lose. Believe your potential future customers.

Actually, I landed in the "Tiger Claw" region. I did find the help center, eventually, by flying around. Following instructions, I was unable to play in the world, yet, as I've described.

I'm not complaining--I have long experience in SL, so I know how complex things are. But don't tell me what my experience was.

  • Look at this video, the landing point is the blue round platform, next to it has signs newbie help center, with many signs and instructions. LOL I cant miss it.

Central Grid is 100% FREE to access.

We pay for the servers and internet connections, so people can come play in our world. Follow the instructions, and it can be alot of fun.

  • Again, what I can tell you is that neither of your assertions was true for me.
