This video features Julia Migenes singing the Habanera from Bizet´s opera Carmen during a televised concert held at Kings Dock in 1992 on the occasion of the visit to Liverpool of the Tall Ships. The Tall Ships Race and the concert also commemorated the 500th anniversary of the arrival in the New World of Christopher Columbus.
The concert was performed by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra directed by Robin Stapleton and Julian Reynolds - and featured Montserrat Caballé, Julia Migenes, Mario Frangoulis, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Justino Diaz, Monserrat Caballé , Alfredo Krauss, Dennis O´Neil, Rita Hunter and Paco Peña. It was attended by the King and Queen of Spain
