This was a play that i wrote for an english final that we decided to film and make awesome. The purpose of the project was to take four characters from the texts that we read throughout the year and write a script revolving around the four of them. The characters are as follows:
Jay Gatsby: The Great Gatsby
Holden Caulfield: Catcher In The Rye
Rowdy: The Absolutely True Diary Of A Part-Time Indian
George Wilson: The Great Gatsby
The bonus characters from the film are as follows:
Captain James T. Kirk: Star Trek
Pavel Chekov: Star Trek
Hikaru Sulu: Star Trek
Spock: Star Trek
Daisy The Horse: N/A
If you are having trouble follwing the storyline, here is a brief overview:
The main characters are Holden, Rowdy and Gatsby. George Wilson has gone crazy because he wife was killed by a hit-and-run driver (as written in The Great Gatsby). The crew of the Starship Enterprise have gotten bored and decided to create their own show in order to entertain themselves. They beam people to a random location and give them all weapons, then bet on who will be the last person standing. The scene where everyone is sitting around the t.v. is supposed to be portraying the crew of the Enterprise watching their show live.
NOTE: Yes, I do realize that this movie might seem a little confusing because of lack of casting (we all had to play more than one person) but please, just try to enjoy it the way it is. If it helps, here is a breakdown of who plays which character:
Gatsby (Matt)also is Chekov.
The Announcer at the beginning of the movie (Andrew) is also Wilson and Spock.
Holden (Tyler) is also Sulu
And Rowdy (Joe) is also Kirk
ADDITIONAL NOTE: At the end of the movie, the move Spock does to Gatsby is the classic VULCAN NERVE PINCH! Anyone who calls themself a Star Trek fan would know that. It is not a "neck pinch". I'm tired of hearing "neck pinch". The only time "vulcan neck pinch" was ever used was in the movie "Spaceballs" so that they wouldn't get sued.
I would like to thank all of the people who were involved in this project as I believe it was a huge success!
Actually, what you say about the 'neck' pinch in the info isn't true.
On at least one occasion (I think it's when he's dictating into the Captain's Log in the Gary Seven episode, "Assignment Earth" I think), Kirk calls it the Vulcan Neck pinch. At least that's what I remember, although now I want to check again. It's "nerve" pinch that I can't remember being used in TOS.
