I'd argue the energy was still there, but the up close intimacy of a small club was not. You get an entirely different feeling 10 ft above a crows 15 ft away at their closest in broad daylight than you do in a sweaty dark punk venue where you can touch (or get bumped around the stage) by the crowd. It seems inevitable that in order to go larger you get farther away from the fans.

I love bad brains, but this show is sooo weak, aint nothing like the real hardcore shows these guys used to give before the late 80's with small venues and these guys would almost tear the roof of and everyone was energetic pittin, jumping on top of each other, screaming, and getting on stage.

I agree. this shows SO weak, the real bad brains shows were in the early eighties and late seventies. this is 1988 where they started to get old and calmed down.

energy of bad brains? pffft, this is where they were cooling down as a band and hardcore was going into a recession. this isn't the REAL energy of the shows bad brains used to attract, check out their early 80's and late 70's shows

Wow! Great video- really captures the essence and energy of bad brains and of the scene at that time. I love all Bad Brains' stuff, but loved the blend of rasta and hardcore punk that they dove headfirst into with this album. Groundbreaking stuff that still gets my heart pumping. Simply awesome -great post!

When was this? Because there should've been a huge ass pit in that crowd. This must've been early 80's
