EDIT: Car is much faster now that it's november and I have a bunch more bolt-ons and a tune. Click below to watch a pretty shitty video (it's just audio basically... I'll have better later)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShJTvMe2rKg

I know some of you may dislike the music playing, but I got bored so I turned on the music I just downloaded before I got into my car.. Before I mention any specs, I'll have to mention some of the problems with my car. I have an oil change that was due 300 miles ago, so I was reluctant to go out and speed around, but I did anyways, and I have a rattle with the exhaust, due to hitting an ABNORMALLY HUGE speed bump. Already tightened everything but with no success, but I have a feeling that going under there and seeing what it's bumping into will remove the noise.

And now onto the details (there isn't much. The CX-7 isn't a race car, after all):

-White 2007 CX-7 GT AWD w/ Tech
-Corksport Power Series TBE
-20"x8.5 Enkei RAZR
-255/45/20 Spec-x
-AEM SRI
-Autoexe Strut Tower Bar
-Forge BPV

Useless mods (some of which aren't even mods at all):
-Turbo badge under the CX-7 at the back
-NEO iPod adaptor (which works great with my iphone 3G)
-V1 Radar detector (probably saved me like $5000 and some jail time)

Like the title says, it was about 90 degrees outside and HUMID. We all know there are stock TMIC issues (Will be getting aftermarket ETS intercooler soon) so please be gentle with your comments about the 0-60 :)

If you listen closely, you can hear the intake and the blowout valve, but the exhaust... I'm not sure. It's really obvious to me since I'm actually there in the cabin and all, but without a camera with good low frequency response, I fear that you can not actually tell the difference between the stock exhaust and aftermarket. Oh well.

I do not have dynos of any of my mods, I just thought I'd make my super fast grocery-getter a little faster :P Though I can tell you that after putting all my mods on at the same time, my baby has definitely gotten A LOT faster, with more pull in all gears and RPM (Especially in high gear on the highway.. stock car didn't produce enough mid-to-high pull to satisfy me).

Also if you look closely in the video near the end when I enter the parking lot, I actually lose traction coming out of the turn. A good sign in my book, though the TCS does get pretty annoying sometimes, cutting off power to my lead foot. And to all those who wanted to know, yes the exhaust produces annoying notes on the highway, but only because I'm doing 90-120mph. 60 mph there is little to no difference between stock. I'd put pictures up but that's for a later time, or perhaps for a later video. I'm trying to go for the sleeper look since my baby is so damn loud wherever I go, and the shiny rims don't help, but my paint (white) and black/polished rims go EXCELLENT together. No disgusting gangsta chrome blingbling that makes people think, 'my god, why is he trying to make his shit car look any shittier!?'. Nope. My enkei's weigh nearly the same as stock (~18lbs.. I think), though they are bigger so the ECU compensates by staying in lower gears longer (which isn't necessarily a bad thing), and also look like they should have come with the car (would look even better with BBK, which I will not get due to price/usefulness ratio).

Again, I'd appreciate gentle comments. As I stated before my 7 is no muscle car, just a nice car for a hardworking college student ;)

P.S: A shoutout to all at mcx7.com!!

  • nice. have an 07 gray GT with tech. like it. but lots of problems and recalls. great car. fast! had mine at nearly 120. don't know what the governor is set at. how long have you had yours?

  • I've had mine for 2 years now, and according to reports on the forums I visit, the governor is set at about 118mph, so 120 seems about right.

With the 07s it's a hit and miss with recalls and problems. I've had none myself but I always take preventative maintenance (early engine oil/ATF/Rear differential fluid changes and I'm convinced that washing my car twice a week (underbody included) helps prevent a lot of problems other people have been having)

  • I got the same car 07 GT awd turbo, but how does the transmission take it? I know the manuals are rated at 280hp and are detuned to 244 with the autos, does this put more wear and tear on the automatic transmission?

  • Not to shabby for a SUV, I like, I like

  • @cowmilk1000 He has a point - my 11 year old Cherokee is as fast on creaky old solid axles - but its also almost 1000lbs lighter than this thing...

  • could you tell me how much you have paid for your usefull mods?

  • you maybe shifting way to late iv noticed on my cx-7 that there is def lag from when u tap up a gear esp when flooring it i can usualy hit 0-60 in just over 6sec shift around 5-5500 not 6k give it a try

    elec blue 07 cx-7 mods

corksport downpipe (makes ur exhaust illegal)

    corksport pipe and exhaust

corksport intake modifyed with extra tubing to go into the wheel well and breath from the fog light area

14.9 in the 1/4 mile hope to beat that this year keep on moding the cx-7 man i love it

  • is the car a automatic just with option for manual?? how does the blowout valve sound?? Mine is an 08

  • Nice video, actually quite interesting what you wrote on info. New 2010 model comes with a 2.5 engine, better fuel economy but it is known as slow.

  • The manual gearbox reaches the 62 miles with 2nd transmission and a way faster (8sec)

  • haha good one ...

    not

  • only 9 second 0-60. practically had time to take a nap before you reached 60.
