MPS Music ( McCartney's company ) owns most of the rights to his songs. Maria Elena owns the rights to his name and likeness. Basically, Buddy Holly is a trademark, like Coca Cola or Disney. I fear though that there isn't much more where this came from. Just about everything Buddy ever recorded has been released, though a lot of it unofficially.
I heard Paul McCartney got all his stuff in a good deal some years ago, that´s who is in charge of what we will be able to get from Buddy Holley today, hopefully he will share it all with us and not keep it to him self, I just LOVE to listen to Buddy, his songs are so great, caro
This version IS the best It came in 1959 as "The Buddy Holly Story" but unfortuneatley I had to give up ALL my collection of BUDDY'S songs bUT only looking fro three the album "Holly in the Hills" This version of CRYING WAITING HOPING" And the orginal version on DECCA RECORDS in the UK it was on "The ace of hearts"LABEL of That'll be the day" i thought the echo was just great on the Decca version
Buddy Holly doesn't get nearly enough credit he diserves, he basically shaped rock 'n roll with his unique style of singing. R.i.p Buddy Holly, you'll never be forgotten.
brcr29--Its true that Buddy made a bid impression on the Beatles, but he was one of many who did. There isn't a great star who didn't have a guiding light-including Buddy himself. I had the great privelage of seeing Buddy in London in 1958--and The Beatles at a different venue no more than 5 miles away 4 years later(with Tommy Roe and Chris Montez) when they were unknown. All I can say is they were both magical nights I'll never forget.
