Sister DeSales Wisniewski, a long time cornerstone in the Jacksonville community and a guiding force for St. Vincents HealthCare, was recently called to the ministry of St. Agnes Health Care in Baltimore, MD, by the Daughters of Charity. She bid farewell to St. Vincents December 10.
In 1993 Sr. DeSales collaborated in the development of We Care Jacksonville, Inc., a network of clinics that provide medical assistance to persons without health insurance. This year she served as President and Board Chair of that organization.
Her involvement with the leadership of the I.M. Sulzbacher Center for the Homeless resulted in the development of an on campus health clinic, which serves the homeless, and she has served on its board of trustees.
Sr. DeSales is loved by the people of St. Vincent's. After nearly 23 years, this will always be her home, and we'll look forward to her return visits" says Gene Miyamoto, System Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President. As I arrived a few months ago, Sr. DeSales welcomed me as though we had known each other for years. I will miss her greatly as a mission leader and executive partner."
