Video Blog Friday July 27th 2007

I was in pain tonight at around 12 am - I took some heavy pain medication moments before and tried to take my mind of the pain, as the one intro to Wyclef's Apocalypse goes ~

Yeah, I was looking out my window
when i heard this sound
look up into the sky
saw the moon turned to blood
looked at my little brother
he said, :: you high as hell maaan ::

So I had the bright idea of creating another video blog in pain and under under the influence of medications I hate to take because they make me say some stupid shhiiii... I guess just to speak and vent would have been enough.

But I ended up giving a whole tour of my art studio and living space here in downtown Bridgeport Connecticut.

The loud grunts you hear every few seconds is just impossible to hold from coming out while a sharp pain rips through me with every movement of my body and even if I don't move my blood cells still try to. Sorry for the sound I could blame it on the microphone and high ceiling echos... but the truth is Suffering is not very Silent... I only named it Silent Suffering because of the SS which means you have Sickle Cell Anemia.

Dr Benjamin is my medical doctor an all around good people to have in your corner so she asked me to present this Silent Suffering video campaign at the up coming national conference, so I thought maybe I better share how things really are... normally when I'm in pain it usually is a private moment I could not predict that my pain would get so bad in just 30 minutes but it can happen very fast, it did not help that the medication started to mess with my head at the time.

For what its worth I hope you enjoy the tour of my Loft Space.

I'll add more details to the info later when I feel better and my head is clearer since this took

Loïs Mailou Jones married Haitian artist Louis Vergniaud Pierre-Noel in 1953, Jones traveled and lived in Haiti. In many of her pieces one can see the influence of the Haitian culture, with its African influences, which reinvigorated the way she looked at the world. Her work became more abstract and hard-edged, after her marriage to Pierre-Noel. Her impressionist techniques gave way to a spirited, richly patterned, and brilliantly colored style. Further travels to eleven African countries enabled Jones to synthesize a body of designs and motifs that she combined in large, complex compositions.
