Murray is hand forging the knife that was just forge welded as shown in a previous video. This is ultimately going to be a kurouchi knife and made from garden steel and Hitachi White #1.

  • yep, the power hammer is very nice indeed. I use hydraulic press for forging, its not that loud.

  • I would like to see some close ups of your powerhammer. did you build it?

  • Agreed! That's some UNBELIEVABLE control while beating the steel that hard. Yikes.

  • It always amazes me how masters make things look so easy. After 2 years I still have trouble with "fish lips" sometimes.

  • You think you shaped that thing fast enough? Awesome. Was that a file, or was the tang forged first.
