Here is an example of my "new" second hand Palatino VE-500 Electric Upright. I made a few minor mods and pretty pleased with the sound and feel. Other "stick" basses that I have played such as the NS WAV just don't feel like an upright at all IMO. Playing along with a little Jamey Aebersold "Mr. Super Hip" with the bass track overdubbed with mine. Direct through a Digitech BP-200 with a little compression and EQ. Enjoy!

  • Great sound - thanks for sharing. How does the scale compare to a 3/4 upright?

  • Thanks! It's a 3/4 scale and feels a lot like an upright. The arch of the bridge is a bit different and the action is a little lower.

  • in china, but Harley Benton make the same thing for 389Euro Thomann

  • is that made in usa? or china?

  • @the2tones Most VE-500 players replace the standard bridge with an Eminence EUB bridge. I think Gollihur sells them.

  • i like your T-shirt from Thailand

  • @yellofury ; use a white sharpie paint stick and make your own for a cple $. You can always remove it when your ready.

  • I like the look but I am leary of it not having side position markers

coming from electric bass this may make it harder for me

  • Terrific Thanks
