When i was playing this game series there was a part in the storyline where tatsumarus master says to him that he killed his farther, so it wasnt just for the crazy skimply clad bitch, and he first remembers who he is when he talks to ayame under some cherry grove tree.

He didn't remember his clan and friends until the end mission on the ship. + at the end he started to love Kagami i guess + he already had gone to far by killing his Sensei and eradicating almost the entire village, so basically he was already doomed to go evil after all.
